Addictions & Compulsive Behaviour

Having started as a counsellor in a drug & alcohol rehab (over 15 years ago), I have many year’s experience of working with issues around addiction and compulsive behaviour, including…

  • substances (alcohol and drugs)
  • sex (and chemsex) and compulsive relationships
  • gambling and extreme financial risk-taking (including compulsive shopping/trading)
  • physically, psychologically or emotionally risky situations

…and I am mindful of how subtle, but powerful and undermining, the shadow of addiction can be.

Whether you are concerned about:

  • your addiction(s), or
  • the addiction(s) of someone close to you

my approach is

  • non-judgemental,
  • compassionate and
  • focussed on facilitating the conditions that may significantly support recovery.

I encourage you to identify and use resources such as 12-step/fellowship groups (AA, NA, GA, AlAnon etc) or non 12-step groups such as SMART Recovery or Moderation Management.  My aim is to help you build sustainable change based on your unique needs and experiences.

I have worked with individuals, couples and parents and siblings around their experience of addiction (my practice is available for clients aged 18+).
